Horse Archery
Mounted Archery is a historical riding practice, originating from warfare based training. In modern times, we practice it for fun. It is one of the fastest growing international equestrian sports, and competitions span the globe with competitors from almost every country. It's thrilling to watch horses gallop down the track and riders loosing arrows as fast as they can, and even more fun to actually be the rider!
Different cultures have practiced mounted archery for generations, and different styles have been born. Our club practices different forms and styles and any discipline of riding is welcome to try it out.
The Iron Orchid Horse Archers hold a once a month group practice, which will be found on the events page. We also provide unmounted archery lessons and private mounted training within our regular lesson schedule. We have our own track for practicing on, and lessons horses if you do not have your own. For the first few sessions, we provide equipment and can help guide to you towards finding what works best for you. Private lessons typically run 2 hrs, starting from the ground and then from horseback.
